Christine Escobar-Sawicki (AM, The University of Chicago; LCSW) serves as field liaison where she interacts with agencies around the state and has opportunities to learn about the needs of social workers and the day-to-day challenges they face, particularly with the state’s budget impasse and drastic funding cuts. She strongly believes it is imperative the social work profession be led by an organization which is responsive and vocal about the concerning efforts to disempower the most vulnerable of our society. Likewise, it is vital NASW be the strong voice needed to bring together our profession and be at the forefront of identify strategies to help social workers enhance their personal resilience and protect their wellbeing. Finally, as a mother of a child with special needs, Christine has had the privilege of benefiting from the dedication and support of wonderful social workers who have truly made a difference in many ways. If elected, Christine will bring her knowledge, skills, passion, and dedication to the role to support the efforts of all social workers and future social workers throughout the state and work diligently to “give back” to those who are constantly giving to others.
