Lauren Weisert (MSW, Simmons College; LCSW) became interested in the field by volunteering with a nonprofit, Justice NOW, in Oakland, CA, which advocated for women prisoners. She also worked in a cutting-edge grant-funded program providing psychiatric consultation and evidenced-based treatment education to primary care providers in rural areas of Washington state. She has worked in a variety of settings primarily with adolescents and young adults including transitional living, residential, inpatient, outpatient, and methadone maintenance. As such, Lauren has a solid understanding of challenges faced by today's youth, especially those with emotional disturbances and disadvantages. Currently she is behavioral health care coordinator in the Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative at Blue Cross Blue Shield, serving the state's most medically and behaviorally fragile residents. Lauren utilizes her schooling in psychodynamic theory, behaviorally based skills, and practical knowledge in managed care to approach and impact the multicultural individuals and communities she serves.
