Licensure
|
THE NEXT DEADLINE FOR LICENSURE RENEWAL IS NOVEMBER 30, 2013. As a service to our members, the NASW Illinois Chapter is pleased to provide social work licensure information. Please be aware that this information is for reference purposes only and though the NASW Illinois is one of the driving forces behind licensure laws and practice, we are NOT the licensure board nor do we create or pass licensure laws in the state of Illinois. In Illinois, social work licensure is administered by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR). All specific questions concerning licensure, and individual license, or a particular application for licensure need to be properly directed to IDFPR (217 785 - 0820). |
Illinois statute requires that any person engaged as a social worker (except in some cases if employed by the United States government or in some cases by the state of Illinois—and only if verified by IDFPR) must be licensed. No person may represent her/himself as a licensed social worker or licensed clinical social worker without obtaining the proper license.
If you need additional licensing information, please call 217 785 - 0820
