Ireta Gasner

Senior Policy Associate, Ounce of Prevention Fund

BIO

"I have been involved with the NASW Illinois Chapter Political Action Committee (NASW IL PAC), as well as the chapter’s Legislative Policy Committee for many years, going back to my work in direct service. I have always been interested in macro-level practice; in fact, the system orientation of social work is why I chose the field. I knew from firsthand experiences with my member of congress that who represents you really matters and affects how successful you can be as an advocate. The NASW IL PAC provided—and continues to provide—an opportunity for me to get to know candidates for elected office, to educate them about issues important to social workers and the clients with whom we work, and to play a part in helping to elect candidates that will help advance these issues."
