2024 Social Work Rule Changes Approved for Social Work Professionals

As reported earlier in April, the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) met on May 14, 2024, and approved changes made by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) to the Administrative Code sections that apply to social work (Social Work “Rules”). These changes will have significant implications for new and existing social workers. While we are still working on updating our website pages and content to reflect these new changes, you can read about the major changes that have taken affect here: https://www.naswil.org/post/new-2024-social-work-rule-changes-approved-for-social-work-professionals

2024 Federal Requirements for IL Social Workers

At the beginning of the year, the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) went into effect, affecting the work of social workers across the United States. This new law requires certain companies (including LLCs, PLLCs, LLPs, LLLPs, and more) formed or operating in the US to report information about their beneficial owners to the US Department of Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Learn more about the CTA, who it affects, and what you may need to do to comply in this month's NASW Legal Defense Fund article, "Corporate Transparency Act" (NASW Membership required): https://www.socialworkers.org/About/Legal-Defense-Fund/Legal-Issues/Corporate-Transparency-Act
