CHICAGO, IL—The National Association of Social Workers, Illinois Chapter (NASW-IL) proudly announces its endorsements for the upcoming 2024 Illinois general election. This election is of critical importance as it will significantly shape the future of social work and human services across Illinois.

The decisions made by newly elected leaders this coming November 5th will be pivotal in determining the future of funding for human services, regulating artificial intelligence, implementing reforms for the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Department of Corrections (DOC), and ensuring protections for our clients statewide.

It is essential to support candidates who advocate for legislation and policies aligned with the goals of the social work profession and who will champion the state’s budget and investment in human services. Now, more than ever, it is crucial to stand firm against efforts to reduce support for those who need it most under the disguise of moderatism.

The endorsements listed below are the result of careful consideration by the NASW-Illinois Chapter Political Action Committee (NASW-IL PAC). These endorsements are based on comprehensive evaluations including candidates' responses to questionnaires, personal interactions, policy positions, and overall viability.

Additional endorsements may be announced pending further review by the NASW-IL PAC.
