October 2019 - Jane Addams District Update

Patricia Schofield, Jane Addams District Chair

Hello All,

During this license renewal year, the November 30th deadline is fast approaching so If you are in need of CEUs, check out naswil.org for continuing education opportunities throughout the state.

I hope to meet many of you at the upcoming Rockford event, From Cultural Competency to Cultural Humility, on Tuesday, October 15th at The Thunder Bay Grille in Rockford. You will earn 3 cultural competence credits and enjoy an outstanding presentation while enjoying the company of fellow social workers. Registration is 3:30pm. The workshop will start at 4 and end at 7:00pm. Appetizers will be provided. Cost for NASW members is $15 and nonmember is $60. Use this link to register https://naswil.wufoo.com/forms/101519-j-addams-cult-comp-ceu-eventrockford/.

If you can't make it too Rockford, remember the 2019 NASW-Illinois Chapter Conference: A Meeting of the Professions from November 5 to 7. The conference will be at The Westin North Shore Wheeling. For information and registration: www.naswilmeets.org.

Do your colleagues belong to NASW? If not, now is the time to introduce them to the benefits of belonging as NASW has launched a national campaign for membership. Refer a new or former NASW member and receive a special gift from NASW.

NASW is celebrating their 65th anniversary by publishing a book documenting 65 years of NASW history. All members will be included in this book. When you are contacted by NASW, make certain all your information is updated and correct.

As the leaves change and the days get shorter, we sometimes put too much on our plates. May I gently remind everyone we need to be kind to ourselves as well as others. Even if that sometimes means saying no, we must remember to take care of ourselves.

Peace,

Patricia Schofield
